Audrey experienced a new "first" this week. Tuesday I noticed she was unusually cranky. She was so irritable, she tossed, turned, cried, and screamed that evening until we finally gave her benadryl and she was asleep by 9pm. Very late for her! She had a slightly runny nose, but I really didn't think she was getting sick. I kind of even felt bad for giving her the benadryl, but I knew it would help her sleep. She woke again that night 5 more times. I can still remember each time of the night it was. Weird. By 6:15, she was up and ready for the day. Andrew and I discovered a snotty-nose kid with puffy eyes. I dreaded taking her to the doctor because the wait is so horribly long. I called them anyway, and they said to bring her in the next day if she wasn't better. By lunchtime her temperature was 100.3, so I went ahead and made an appointment for the next day. Surprisingly we were back in a room in 10 minutes. I agreed to see the nurse practitioner so I wouldn't have to wait as long to see Audrey's regular doctor. To my surprise, Audrey had a double ear infection. I have taken this child to the doctor, no joke, probably 4-5 times thinking she had an ear infection. Every time her ears have been perfect. So I was shocked to hear she had an infection in both ears this time around. Bless her heart, no wonder she had not been sleeping. Night #2, by the way, was just as bad - if not worse than the night before. We were going on two horrible nights of sleep. I was really hoping the meds would give us a break and we would all get some rest. Thankfully, we did! Audrey has slept through the night ever since we got meds on Thursday. Yay!!! The nurse also said that it was just her sinuses and she shouldn't be contagious. Think again. By Thursday night, this mess hit me out of nowhere. It is just a cold, but they can still make you feel rotten. We spent a lot of time on Friday snuggling on the couch watching her favorite show, Praise Baby. We are now feeling much better, although I am still wiping her nose fairly often. Or at least it seems that way. I know it is not nearly as bad as a few days ago. So I think her first ear infection at 14 months old is pretty good, don't you think? Also, side note, she weighed 22.2 lbs.
Today we found Audrey on top of two guitar cases. They were stacked on top of each other in front of the tv. As you can see in the picture, she has her hands leaning on the tv stand, as she is dancing to the music on the tv. Hilarious! I got some good video of her dancing. I think she was pretty proud of herself that she had climbed on top of the cases. I guess it is just going to get more crazy around here! She is turning into a little monkey. ;)
Here are some pics from today. I love this time of year. The colors are so pretty and the weather is just perfect.
So, as Aunt Ashley would say, "bless its bones" -she's had a rough week. ;)
Night night, Little Girl. Mommy loves you. Always.
The climbing has just begun. :) I am sure you will get all kinds of fun pictures of her climbing and exploring. She is so sweet.
