At 2 months old, he was starting to sleep a consistent three hours every night from around 6-7ish pm - 9-10ish pm. After that first three hours, the rest of the night was unpredictable. He might sleep another three hours, or maybe just one. Then once we got to 3am, it could be every 30 min or less. At the most he would usually sleep an hour stretch. It was AWFUL.
The main problem, aside from having acid reflux, was his need for the paci. If he is sleepy, he must have his paci. During the night, we were constantly having to hold his paci in his mouth. At 2 months, he was mainly sleeping in his car seat. I finally bought a Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleeper. It is an inclined little bed that rocks and vibrates. You have to manually rock it yourself. I have loved it for Charlie because he has room to grow in this to sleep in. He has to be at an angle for his reflux, and he doesn't like his bed yet. He was getting too big to sleep in his car seat.
My babies don't look as much alike at 2 months, do they? Audrey had so much more hair than Charlie does and she only weighed 10 pounds at 2 months old.
(This post has some pictures I've taken from my iPod, which are much less quality.)
This second month of Charlie's life has been much more difficult for me. I thought things might get a little easier, but I was wrong. I think the prolonged sleep depravity made me feel so much worse and made everything about my life extremely hard. I do not know how I could survive through this without my family. (And my best friends!) I will blog more about this experience later. God has really been so incredibly faithful to me and I want to share one day what I went through and what He has done. Things are much better now and Charlie's sleeping has improved. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!
Aside from the difficulties, there have been many wonderful happy moments. This boy is one happy kiddo. This month he is smiling more and even laughing. He is very ticklish. Hehe.
Charlie is not getting much tummy time because of his reflux so I decided to try the bumbo seat. At least this way he can start building more neck muscles. He really likes it.
Audrey loves her little brother! She adores him. It makes me so happy to see her love on him and care about him. They are going to be fun little playmates for each other.
Andrew took Audrey camping a few weekends ago at his parents' house. It was too cold for her to sleep outside, but they made a campfire and roasted marshmallows. She had a blast!
I love these kids so much.
Nighty night to my babies. Sleep good...!!
