5 Months Old!

Boo Boo turned 5 months old last week! Wow! He is growing so fast. LOOK AT THOSE ROLLS. He is the CUTEST and SWEETEST, MOST cuddly little boy in the world. Oh how I love him.

Charlie is happy, happy, happy all the time. (Except at night when he wants his paci, ha.) He laughs and smiles constantly. Even when he gets fussy we can still make him smile. He is SO ticklish. He will giggle until he can hardly catch his breath. It is the sweetest thing to see him so joyful. He is such a jolly little fella.

He has found his feet this past month and desperately wants to sit up on his own. He hasn't rolled over yet, but he can roll to his side now. I think he will be rolling this month. We shall see!

I had to take Charlie and Audrey to the doctor on his 5 month birthday. Audrey had bronchitis and Charlie had his first ear infection in his right ear. He weighed 21 lbs 4 oz! I can't remember exactly how much Audrey weighed at one year old, but it was 20-21 lbs. ;)

Charlie loves toys. He loves to chew on them and babble at them. One of his favorite things is to play with a toy while he lays on his mat and watch tv. hehe.

He is wearing 9 and 12 month clothes and is in a size 4 diaper! Audrey wears a size 5, if that tells you anything, ha. He has also gotten a lot more hair this past month, and doesn't have any more bald spots. His hair is coming in brown! I really thought it would come in blonde like Audrey's did. Looks like he is going to be brunette for now.

Here's my girl at 5 months old. :)

We started solids at 4 months with Charlie per his doctor's recommendation. She thinks it will help his reflux. I'm not sure that it really has, but we do not have to do a dream feed anymore. He sleeps the same with or without the 9-10pm feeding. Charlie LOVES baby food!!! I remember Audrey hated it for the longest time. Charlie has loved everything I've given him. So far we have done bananas, pears, peaches, applesauce, and peas. Maybe he will be the first in the family to not be a picky eater!!

Is that not an "Andrew" face or what?! haha.

Charlie's reflux has improved this past month. I took him to the chiropractor twice, and I think he has improved by 50-60%. I also quit giving him his Zantac medicine and we have been trying a homeopathic remedy (Nat Phos 6x) instead. I am not sure if the homeopathic remedy has helped, especially since we also did the chiropractor at the same time. The main thing is he has improved and hopefully we can transition him to his bed over this next month. I have high hopes!

(Notice the upside down "3 Months" sticker Audrey has on her shirt. Every month when we take Charlie's monthly picture, she has to wear the one with a "3" on it. So silly!)

Last week since he was sick, we did not let him cry at night. He did really well, usually only waking once for his paci. He likes to wake up around 4:30am these days. Whew. His "new normal" for this past week has been bedtime at 6pm, wake once or twice for paci, and awake for the morning at 4:30ish. He doesn't stay up long after the first feeding, usually just 45 minutes. He is averaging 4-5 naps per day, usually with one long nap. I really hope we can get down to just 3 naps soon. He has come so far and I am proud of him.

Last night we decided to start crying it out again. I believe he is completely well now. He finished his antibiotics yesterday too. We swaddled him and gave him his paci for bedtime. He woke at 2:45am and fussed on and off for a long time. I also decided to wait until 6am for his next feeding. I know it is normal for kids his age to sleep 12 hours at night, and since his reflux has improved so much over the last 3 weeks, I decided we should try it. Overall, last night was rough.  I am hoping tonight will be better. He did get one arm out of his blanket. I decided to move him to his bed and turn on his monkey glow-light. It's a little stuffed animal whose belly lights up and plays soothing music. That definitely calmed him down.

This past week I elevated his crib again. I also got two towels, rolled them up and put them under his sheet in an oval shape. He lies in the oval and all around him its a little more snugly with the towels, plus he can't slide down. They are just the perfect height because they don't come up near his face, but it's just enough for him to feel "cocooned." He seems to like it too. I've tried it at nap time, but he still spits up. I need to elevate his bed more.

MY KIDS ARE JUST THE CUTEST!! I so look forward to when they can play even more together. Charlie loves to pull hair. Audrey didn't know quite what to think when he first did it, but I started laughing and so she thought it was funny too. Silly kids!! They are the best!

Mommy loves you, kiddos.
